Staff Training

Hey friends and family! I've missed you all.

Staff training has started here at Camp Homewood but first some fun news...

Mikaela is coming to Camp for the WHOLE summer to be nurse! I am so excited. Some things fell through for her this summer and she made the decision (with some convincing) to come up to Camp Homewood.

Aaron, Irwin, and I have been busy planning, teaching, and instructing the new staff at Homewood for the past 5 days, to be effective Christ loving counselors this summer with the campers. They are passionate. They are enthusiastic. They love The Lord. I am excited!!
Next thing on the agenda is something called "Friends of Homewood" where the local Homewood supporters, friends of counsellors, and family of present and past counsellors come to have a meal, meet the new staff, and share in a fun fireside of testimonies and choir style songs by the Homewood crew.

Tomorrow we will embark on our overnight outtrips for a day. The guy counsellors will split into 3 groups and head out to different spots on Quadra island and camp for the night and the girls the same. This is a classic part of staff training, and is instrumental in the counsellors connecting and getting that "Camping" experience that we impress on all the campers that come. Also so that the staff are prepared to safely take their campers on outtrips with confidence.

My head... ya..
It's getting better. PRAISE GOD!
Acupuncture and meds have limited my migraines to one or two a week. Both of these solutions though are quite expensive... which is awful. Please pray!! You can contribute to my medical fund too if you feel called to... I would appreciate it.

What i've learned this month..
The verse is a little out of context but I still find hope in it..

1 Peter 5:10 "In his kindness God called us to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation."

Suffering is a part of life whether physical or spiritual, Peter doesn't say "IF" you suffer.. he says "after you have". God will restore you. I feel like I have suffered and am still suffering.. but I know for a fact through Jesus Christ, I WILL be restored and I am excited for what i'm learning through this time and what I will learn.

PLEASE PRAY FOR US AT HOMEWOOD THIS SUMMER!!!
 WE NEED IT!!!

I love you guys! please comment and encourage us as we give all our energy for the kids this summer.

Homeschool Family Camp

Hey friends!!

So some unexpected news happened this past week...

First our speaker cancelled for the weekend Father/son group... So I texted up the family and asked if they would come up early for the weekend... YAY!

Next I asked Mikaela if she could come up for a week and a bit.... YAY!

So I have been living the dream here at camp... working WHILE my family and girlfriend are here with me... Best case scenario.

Acupuncture is helping!

Trying a new Chiropractor starting in a bit... i'm excited!

Love you guys!!

First Week back.

Finished my first week back. It was not really what I expected. I went to bed consistently before 10:30... woke up at 7:30 every morning... didn't bump my head on anything... went for a run almost every evening... beat my personal best 8 km up and down hills in 29 minutes, drank lots of water , only had one small cup of coffee in the morning... took all my pills and vitamins... still had 3 migraines this week... and smaller headaches just about every day. poopy. Not a good start. I'll be scaling back on some duties this coming week.

I am getting hooked up with a chiropractor in Campbell River who doesn't crack joints and specializes in migraine therapy... and I am going to try acupuncture.

The Lord has blessed me with awesome and generous friends... I was recently given a bicycle that is going to be perfect for quadra and what I need. Praise God!!!! I don't have to insure my truck and pay for gas. The Lord is good.

The last week of campers... just a treat... I had the opportunity to build so many unique relationships and got the blessing to talk about God with some of them... only God knows what will come of it but I know that even if I moved them a little bit along in their spiritual journey towards Jesus Christ i've done my job. I'll keep showing them Gods love no matter what hardships are going to come.

School group coming in a couple hours here for a week... please pray for us!! Help us to be intentional, excited, and a blessing to the kids and teachers!!

Love you guys!!
